Part 1: Boost Your Sales by 50%
In a recent blog post , I shared some statistics indicating that it takes over $3,000 on average to generate one new customer.
Based on this data, if you only sell one product, it would take you over 10 years to earn back the amount of money you invested in marketing and selling that product. Not good!
If you're like many entrepreneurs, you work hard for your money and want to see it go further as quickly as possible.
The solution is to start selling multiple products. If you generate $33,000 in revenue from one product, it will only take you 3 months to get your initial investment back if you sell 2 products at $11,000 each.
This leads me to my next point.
1. Sell More Products
The average online store has an average of 10 products . If you want to grow your online business and make more money, then you need to be a big fish in a small pond. Don't just be another generic eCommerce website with an average of 10 products... you should be selling more products with higher prices.
My advice is to sell products with a range of prices.
For example, my eBay store has 10 different products with the average price being $14.95. This means that if you buy all 10 products, your total cost will only be $145.95 if you're paying with a credit card using PayPal's eCommerce system (credit cards and PayPal are integrated).
If you don't want to pay using PayPal and instead use eBay's standard payment systems, then your total cost will be significantly less than $145 thanks to eBay's Buyer Protection Policy .
That means that if you're a buyer and pay with a credit card, your total cost for 10 products will be around $122. Even though you're getting 10 products for $122, your average total cost per product is still only $12.20. This is a great deal considering that these products alone would usually cost over $200 if purchased in the physical world.
This brings me to my next point...
2. Use eBay's Physical Products Program to Your Advantage
eBay's Physical Products Program allows online stores to sell physical products, such as clothing and accessories, on eBay . With the thousands of products that are available on eBay, you can quickly get more traffic and buyers.
The great thing about using eBay's Physical Products Program is that you don't need to be an expert on selling items like clothing, accessories, or other physical products. If you know the price of what you want to sell and know the type of people who will be interested in buying it, then you're good to go. All that's required is a few boxes to check off and basic knowledge about how shipping works.
Here's how it works... if you're selling shoes online, for example, all you have to do is find a pair of shoes that are in demand by your target audience and list them on eBay . Your job is to find a supplier and buy the item at a wholesale price, which is then shipped directly to your customer.
Once your customer has received the product, simply ship it back to the supplier.
In other words, if you're selling 10 pairs of shoes online at $34 each and shipping it directly to your customers , then you can receive $340 per day in revenue (if you're lucky enough to have all 10 pairs sell in 1 day) .
Plus, with PayPal's eCommerce program, which integrates with eBay, you don't have to worry about collecting money from your customers. PayPal will automatically collect the payment from your buyer and transfer it straight into your bank account... it's that easy!
If you're interested in selling on eBay, all you have to do is sign up for a free account . From there, scroll down until you find the link for eBay's Physical Products Program and click on it.
3. Put Your Passion into Your Products
One common mistake that entrepreneurs make when starting a business is trying to sell products that they don't care about or are passionate about. It's obvious why this is bad. If you don't really care about or enjoy the product or service that you're giving people, then it will be very difficult to convince buyers to purchase your product... or it will be difficult for you to sell your product in the first place.
Here are some examples of products that I know will sell well because I've tested them and know that most people like them...
Cheap Flights to Australia (I live there now and love the flight experience)
Beta-Carotene Supplements (After reading a few studies, I've found that many people who don't have enough beta-carotene in their diets can benefit from taking supplements)
Internet Marketing Courses (Hundreds of thousands of people want to learn online marketing but they're steered wrong by other programs. I'm going to give them the real deal)
If you're just starting out in your business, then start with products that you know will sell because of your own personal experience.
If you're a travel blogger, then try selling cheap flights or other travel related items. If you're an Internet marketer, then try selling Internet marketing courses or other related products.
In any case, make sure that the product is something that you personally believe in and want to buy yourself. This will give you a huge advantage over the thousands of people who are selling generic products on eBay or similar sites.
4. Use Keywords to Your Advantage
Choosing the right keywords is essential to getting more traffic and sales on eBay .
