Acoustic Panels for Sound Control on Vessels (7/18/2016) Summary by Ed Hardenburg
Acoustic panels for sound control on vessels have been in use for many years, but not by the average boat owner. Acoustic panels are often used on mega-yachts and other large vessels, as well as production boats and luxury cruisers in the 50' to 70' range. The reason is simple: they are an effective way to reduce noise, vibration, and other undesirable effects of low-frequency sound waves.

October 1, 2015: 'Luxury' Interior Design I See in America - A Review
From Ed Hardenburg...I went to Las Vegas last week and saw the boats that are being offered at the International Boat Show there. Here is my assessment, which you might see as an insult of sorts. These are luxury craft built for rich people who want to show off their wealth. I have no quarrel with this. The only way to have a boat that looks "luxurious" is to build it that way. I've seen far too many yards built as if they were utilitarian, built as if they had to perform their functions while also looking good. And I've seen examples of boats that look like the yacht was designed by boatyard architects, but do not really work well and are often uncomfortable for those who spend a lot of time on the boat. So you can have it both ways.
April 2, 2013: I hate people who lie to the public (11/28/2013-05/13/2016)
Ed has been writing about the problems and poor opinions of those in the power industry, including electric companies. Electricity is a major cost in boat ownership, and a one-sided view of electricity is being touted as "green energy" by some. Ed's opinions on this subject are not welcomed by many organizations and people in the power industry who attempt to discredit him with false or misleading facts. Ed Hardenburg
August 8, 2011: Legends of Summer - A Review
From Ed Hardenburg...I'm a boat person. I love boats. I am most comfortable on a boat (or the water itself). But, I grew up in south Florida and have always been an outdoorsy guy. The first time I heard of Jimmy Buffet's song Legends of Summer, it brought to mind many summer memories that were vivid even after many years...you know the song:
You can take me out to the ball game
Take me out for pizza…
Take me out for drinks...(repeat)
I especially loved going out on boats when I was a kid, mainly because it was an escape from reality…we all thought we owned the ocean as we drove around in our own little world. We also thought we owned the airplane as we flew around in it, too, and when I was a young boy it was impossible to say anything about pollution or noise pollution because our boatowners had no idea what a motorboat motor sounded like.
